Local News ·
The Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade has issued notices to 17 shops in the Maldives for failing to display prices in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act. The ministry conducted inspections from 15 to 20 October, checking 34 shops in total. Of these, 17 shops had prices properly displayed, while the remaining 17 were found to be non-compliant and received notices. The ministry stated that it will continue inspections and take action against businesses that fail to comply with price display requirements. Under the Consumer Protection Act, all goods offered for sale must have prices clearly indicated, either directly on the product or at the point of display. The ministry has also launched an online portal called 'AguMaggu' for consumers to compare prices of essential goods, with 224 shops registered so far.
