249 Kilowatt Solar Power System Revolutionizes Electricity Supply in Kendhoo
Environment ·
A groundbreaking 249-kilowatt solar photovoltaic (PV) hybrid system has been implemented in Kendhoo, transforming the island's electricity supply. This innovative system, integrated with a 344-kilowatt battery energy storage system (BESS), aims to significantly reduce reliance on diesel power. By harnessing solar energy, the hybrid system ensures a more stable grid connection and drastically cuts down on diesel consumption. Annually, this initiative is expected to save 117,181 liters of diesel and prevent the emission of 287 tons of carbon dioxide. The project aligns with the Maldives' broader goal of enhancing sustainable energy sources and reducing environmental impact. Spearheaded by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, this initiative marks a significant step toward achieving energy independence and sustainability for Kendhoo's residents.
