27-Year-Old Tuition Centre Operator Remanded for 30 Days Over Child Abuse Allegation

A 27-year-old Maldivian man, who operates a tuition centre in Malé, has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child. Police confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody on February 11 and subsequently presented before the court for a remand hearing. The judge ordered him to be held in custody for 30 days. The suspect is reported to be the owner of a prominent tuition centre in the city. Child sexual abuse cases are treated with the highest priority by the Maldivian Police Service, and the investigation is ongoing.
