621 Votes Declared Invalid in April Local Council Elections: EC

In the local council elections held on April 4, a total of 621 votes have been declared invalid by the Election Commission (EC). The EC has released details of the invalid votes, including their serial numbers, codes, polling stations, and locations where they were cast. Among the invalid votes, 321 were from Addu Atoll, while 240 were from Malé, Hulhumalé, and Vilimalé. Additionally, 3 votes from Sinahiya, 5 from jails, 50 from resorts, and 2 from overseas polling stations were also declared invalid. The elections were conducted across 225 constituencies to elect members of local councils and women's development committees. The EC has ensured transparency by sharing comprehensive data on the invalid votes.
