77 Youth Begin Specialized Technical Training at MNDF Kihaadhoo Engineering School

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced the departure of 77 young Maldivians to Kihaadhoo in Baa Atoll to begin advanced technical training. These participants are the second group of trainees selected from the National Service program to pursue specialized professional qualifications. The trainees, aged between 16 and 19, represent a diverse cross-section of the archipelago, hailing from 50 islands across 17 different atolls. They will be hosted by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) at the newly established School of Engineering and Logistics. The curriculum is designed to provide hands-on expertise across six distinct professional fields, bridging the gap between basic service and technical employment. This initiative follows a rigorous selection process. In the second round of basic national service training, 343 out of 350 participants successfully completed the program. From this pool, 77 were chosen for this advanced phase based on their applications and performance. The overarching goal of the program is to cultivate patriotic, responsible, and physically healthy citizens equipped with the self-confidence to serve the state. This expansion builds on the momentum of the first training cycle, which concluded on December 28 last year. That initial phase saw 344 participants complete basic training, with 63 of those individuals moving forward into specialized professional tracks. By integrating military-style discipline with vocational engineering and logistics training, the government aims to equip the youth with tangible skills. These qualifications are intended to ensure that young Maldivians are not only spiritually and physically prepared for national service but are also professionally qualified to contribute to the country's infrastructure and development.
