The Ministry of Construction has announced that 80% of the Thilamale Bridge project is now complete. Currently, the final segment connecting Vilimale to Gulhifalhu is being installed, with the link expected to be connected within this week. Of the total 1,222 deck segments required, 98.53% have been cast, and 88% of the work to install segments between piers is finished. The overall project progress stands at 80.32%. The bridge from Male to Vilimale was completed by the end of August. The remaining work includes the Gulhifalhu-Thilafushi bridge, approximately 600 metres, and a highway connecting the islands. The entire 6.7-kilometre project, which includes three bridges and connecting highways, is targeted for completion by next year. The $500 million project is funded through India's Line of Credit and the Maldivian government.
