90% of Funaadhoo Petrol Shed Fire Contained; 4 Houses, 5 Workshops Affected

A fire that broke out at the petrol shed in Funaadhoo, Shaviyani Atoll, is now 90% contained, according to the National Defense Force. The fire, which started earlier, has been prevented from spreading further, though it has not yet been fully extinguished. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that the fire affected four houses and five workshops or garages in the area. Residents have been evacuated, and some individuals are receiving treatment for injuries of varying severity. Firefighting efforts involve multiple agencies, including the police, the Airport Fire Service, and the public. A fire team from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has arrived from Kulhudhuffushi, and the JW Marriott Resort fire team is also assisting in the operation.
