Abdullah Kamaluddin Appointed CEO of Maumoon Foundation, Pledges Collaborative Leadership

Former Minister Abdullah Kamaluddin has been appointed CEO of the Maumoon Foundation by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Established in 2010, the Maumoon Foundation is a private organization dedicated to supporting religious, cultural, and educational initiatives. In a social media post announcing the appointment, President Maumoon expressed confidence that Kamaluddin’s experience would positively contribute to the foundation’s work. Speaking to Sun, Kamaluddin emphasized his commitment to leading the foundation in accordance with President Maumoon’s guidance and in collaboration with its executive committee. He highlighted the foundation’s recent memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, signed on December 31, which aims to collaborate on religious and social initiatives, including the restoration of the Islamic Centre and the creation of a digital archive. Kamaluddin has long been associated with President Maumoon’s political efforts, having served as a minister and contested the 2019 parliamentary elections with Maumoon’s support.
