Addu Police College Hosts First International Interpol Training for 13 Nations

The National College of Policing and Law Enforcement (NCPLE) in Addu City has launched an Interpol training programme, marking the first time an international course has been hosted at the campus. The Maldives Police Service announced that the initiative represents a historic milestone for the college's capacity to facilitate global law enforcement education. Officially inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Abdul Rahman, the event is Interpol’s flagship Instructor Development Course. Organized by the Capacity Building and Training Directorate, the programme brings together 23 officers from 13 different countries, representing various Interpol regions. This gathering transforms the Addu campus into a hub for international security cooperation and knowledge exchange. The specialized training focuses on equipping law enforcement officers with the foundational and technical methodologies required to deliver high-quality training to others. Key objectives include mastering adult learning principles, instructional systems design, and the integration of modern tools used in contemporary police training. Throughout the course, participants will engage in practical exercises to develop comprehensive lesson plans based on instructional design models. The curriculum also emphasizes the development of soft skills, including public speaking, presentation techniques, and methods to increase learner engagement. Furthermore, officers will be trained in rigorous techniques to assess and measure learning outcomes. Beyond the technical skills, the Maldives Police Service highlighted the strategic value of the programme in fostering international diplomacy. By bringing together officers from diverse Interpol member countries, the course provides a critical platform to strengthen professional networks and enhance institutional cooperation against global crime.
