Adhaalath Party Announces Presidential Election for Late January

The Adhaalath Party has officially announced that its presidential election will be held on 31 January 2026, provided more than one candidate contests for the position. Applications for the presidency are now open, with candidates required to be listed in the party's official membership roster as of 28 December 2025. The deadline for submissions is 4pm on 8 January 2026. In the event that only one candidate applies, a confidence vote will be conducted to approve the candidate. Current president Sheikh Imran Abdulla, who has completed two terms in office, will not be eligible for re-election. The party has outlined stringent qualifications for candidates, including no criminal convictions under Islamic law, a minimum of two years of service in the party’s councils, and holding a recognized diploma. Candidates must also have at least three years of practical experience. The election marks a significant moment for the party as it transitions leadership under its established principles.
