Adhaalath Party Opens Nominations for President Election

The Adhaalath Party has officially opened nominations for the position of party president. In an announcement made on Monday, the party specified that only registered members as of Sunday are eligible to contest. Applications must be submitted through an online form by 16:00 on January 8. The party has outlined several eligibility criteria for candidates, including being a Muslim, a Sunni community member, a Maldivian citizen, at least 30 years old, and not holding any foreign nationality. Additionally, candidates must have served at least two years in one of the party’s internal parliaments and hold at least a diploma from a government-recognised institution with three years of practical experience. The election is scheduled for January 31, with voting restricted to registered members as of Sunday.
