Ahmed Shafeez Appointed as Deputy Tax Commissioner

Ahmed Shafeez has been appointed as the new Deputy Tax Commissioner of the Maldives, filling the vacancy left by Fatimat Ameezah who was elevated to Tax Commissioner in July. The appointment was confirmed after the Parliament voted in favour of Shafeez on Monday. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had submitted three names to Parliament earlier this month: Ahmed Mausoom, Mariyam Jaida, and Shafeez. Of these, Mausoom and Shafeez met the qualifications, and Shafeez secured the post through a parliamentary vote. Shafeez previously served as Director General of the Admin and Finance Department at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
