Air India Celebrates 50 Years of Service to the Maldives

Air India marked a significant milestone today, celebrating 50 years of its operations to the Maldives. The commemorative event took place at Velana International Airport (VIA), where Air India's inaugural flight to the Maldives landed on February 21, 1976. To honor this occasion, Air India organized a special ceremony featuring a water salute for its arriving flight. The flight carried 139 passengers who were greeted with traditional music and presented with commemorative gifts. Air India’s contributions have been pivotal in connecting the Maldives with India, fostering tourism, trade, and cultural exchange over the decades.
