All Fenaka utility services officially transferred to STELCO; last island L. Fonadhoo handed over
Local News ·
All islands where Fenaka Corporation was providing utility services have been fully transferred to the State Electric Company (STELCO). The final island to be handed over was L. Fonadhoo, marked by a special ceremony where the STELCO flag was hoisted. STELCO Managing Director Dr. Ali Azwar said there is high hope among the people since the company took over, calling the move a very important and beneficial decision under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's vision. Previously, STELCO already served the Malé area, Kaafu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaal, and Vaavu atolls. Services in Baa, Thaa, and Meemu atolls had also been transferred before the government decided to dissolve Fenaka. With this latest change, utility services for 127 remaining islands across the atolls have now officially come under STELCO. To ensure stable operations, changes have been made to STELCO's administrative structure, and four teams have been active in the atolls to integrate the services.
