Asseyri Prison Medical Camp Provides Specialist Care for 41 Inmates

Sports ·
The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has conducted a specialized medical camp at Asseyri Prison to provide essential healthcare services to prisoners and detainees. Organized in partnership with Hulhumalé Hospital, the initiative brought critical medical expertise directly to the facility. A team of specialists, including a general surgeon, an orthopedic specialist, and an internal medicine physician, conducted the consultations. A total of 41 inmates received medical evaluations and specialist care during the camp, addressing health needs that typically require external referrals. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the MCS to ensure that inmates have access to comprehensive healthcare. By collaborating with external health providers, the service aims to treat complex medical conditions that cannot be managed within the prison's existing internal health infrastructure. This medical camp underscores the commitment to inmate welfare and the reduction of logistical challenges associated with transporting detainees to external hospitals for routine specialist reviews. The MCS indicated that similar medical camps will be organized in the future to maintain the health and well-being of the prison population.
