Azim pledges to complete fisheries projects and aid fishermen under MDP government

Malé City Mayor Adham Azim has assured fishermen that all fisheries projects will be completed and comprehensive solutions provided for their difficulties under a Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) government. Speaking on Friday after visiting the Malé Fish Market and meeting with fishermen, Azim addressed concerns over fish prices, shortages of ice and fuel, and mismanagement at the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO). Azim, who is the running mate of former Vice President Faisal Naseem in the MDP primaries for the upcoming presidential election, criticized the current government for halting the fish market project and failing to address corruption at MIFCO. He promised that under an MDP government, large fisheries projects in the north, south, and central regions would be completed, ensuring better fish prices, faster sales, cheaper fuel and ice, and direct export opportunities from various islands.
