A foreign national has been arrested in a case where he lost his passport while being taken for departure under immigration supervision. The person arrested is identified as Sheikh Md Masum Latif (21), a citizen of Bangladesh. A charge of causing damage to property has been levied against him. According to the Criminal Court order, he is a person who resides in violation of the laws and procedures of Maldives Immigration. The court order stated that police noted that his passport was lost while he was being taken for departure under immigration supervision, and that the alleged act was committed when he was detained in the Immigration Holding Cell.
