Bank of Maldives Restructures Executive Team to Drive Sustainable Growth

World ·
Bank of Maldives (BML) has unveiled a new organizational structure and a strategic realignment of its executive leadership team. The initiative aims to simplify the customer experience, strengthen institutional accountability, and align internal operations with the bank's long-term strategy for sustainable growth. As a core component of this restructuring, four senior executives have transitioned into adjacent roles for an initial six-month period. Aishath Zamra Zahir has assumed the role of Chief Commercial Officer, while Moosa Nimal has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer. Additionally, Rashfa Jaufar and Gary Laughton have taken over as Chief Risk Officer and Chief Credit Officer, respectively. Mohamed Shareef, BML’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, emphasized that these changes are designed to build leadership depth within the institution. He noted that the bank is currently in a strong position, and the temporary rotation of roles allows experienced leaders to gain direct exposure to different disciplines, ultimately strengthening both the individuals and the organization. BML stated that the restructuring reflects a broader commitment to investing in human capital and enhancing service standards for its clientele. By diversifying the expertise of its top leadership, the bank intends to foster deeper customer relationships and ensure a more resilient operational framework. The bank has assured the public that these modifications are strictly internal. Customers will not experience any disruptions to their accounts, products, or services, and all existing points of contact remain unchanged.
