Belavia to Launch Trial Flights to Maldives This August

Belarus's national carrier, Belavia, will launch direct flights to the Maldives this August. The airline will begin with six to eight trial flights to assess market demand before establishing a permanent schedule. The move marks a new step in air connectivity between the two nations. Belavia management stated the Maldives is viewed as a promising long-haul destination, prompting the airline's entry into the market. The launch occurs as global airlines adjust operations amid international disruptions, including those linked to the Middle East conflict, leading to shifting travel patterns. Several other carriers have recently increased services to the Maldives. British Airways has raised its weekly frequency from three to four flights, with plans to increase to five or six. Switzerland's Edelweiss Air has scheduled 20 flights for April, and Russia's Aeroflot has boosted services between Moscow and Malé to offset cancellations from other airlines. Furthermore, German airline Condor will resume flights from Frankfurt to Velana International Airport this summer. The service will operate four times a week from May 1 through October. Despite ongoing global travel challenges, the Maldives remains accessible through a wide range of international air connections and infrastructure supporting both commercial and private aviation.
