Binveriyaa Land Distribution Begins in Hulhumale' Phase III

Politics ·
The handover of residential land to recipients under the government's Binveriyaa housing scheme has commenced in the newly developed Hulhumale' Phase III. The first eleven plots were distributed on the opening day, with daily handovers now underway to meet the target of completing the process by April 15. The 698 plots in Phase III were allocated to beneficiaries through a lottery held last December. The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure reports that 337 recipients have already completed registration for their new land. The development of this land marks a significant milestone. The area for Hulhumale' Phase III was designated before dredging began, and previous reclamation attempts had stalled. After the current administration took office, the project was transferred to the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which successfully dredged 63 hectares. Land reclamation for the phase was finalized on January 25. The plots vary in size to accommodate different household needs. The distribution includes 181 plots of 1,650 square feet, 242 plots of 2,050 square feet, and 132 plots of 2,450 square feet. Larger allocations consist of 62 plots at 2,850 square feet, 41 at 3,250 square feet, 16 at 3,650 square feet, and 24 plots at 4,000 square feet. The Binveriyaa scheme is a cornerstone of the government's policy to address housing shortages by providing land ownership to citizens. The commencement of handovers in Phase III delivers on a key promise and provides tangible assets to hundreds of Maldivian families.
