Business Center Corporation Opens Phased Applications for Maldives Expo 2026

Politics ·
The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has officially opened applications for the Maldives Expo 2026, introducing a new phased registration process to increase flexibility for local exhibitors. The deadline for the initial registration phase is August 31. Moving away from traditional single-stage applications, the BCC has implemented a two-step system designed to lower the barrier to entry. In the first phase, applicants need only provide basic personal details, select a category, and estimate the number of items they intend to display. This allows the corporation to map the event's scale and layout without requiring exhibitors to have finalized their product lists. BCC Deputy Managing Director Samih Adam emphasized that this shift ensures those who are still refining their offerings can still secure a spot. "The most important purpose is to give the opportunity to submit an application even if the product information is not known at this stage," Adam stated, noting the importance of gathering volume data for planning purposes. Full product specifications can be submitted during the second phase, which closes on September 15. The strategy appears to be working, with over 180 applications already recorded. The 2026 Expo aims to be highly inclusive, featuring 73 categories across 16 diverse fields. Eligibility extends to Maldivian citizens over 13, 100% Maldivian-owned companies, government bodies, educational institutions, city and island councils, and persons with special needs. In a new addition to the exhibition's scope, the BCC has introduced a dedicated category for religious content. This category is specifically designed for Islamic educators, content creators, and religious awareness activists to showcase their work on a national stage, adding a new dimension to the expo's diversity. Interested participants are encouraged to complete their initial registration by August 31 to guarantee space in what is shaping up to be a comprehensive showcase of Maldivian innovation and enterprise.
