Cambodia and Thailand Exchange Accusations Over Truce Violations Following Deadly Border Clash
Politics ·
Cambodia and Thailand have accused each other of violating a ceasefire agreement signed on October 26, following a deadly border clash. Cambodia's Defence Ministry claims that Thai forces carried out aggressive military operations, resulting in the deaths of seven civilians and injuries to 20 others. The ministry condemned these actions as 'inhumane and brutal,' accusing Thailand of breaching the Joint Declaration signed by both nations in the presence of US President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Meanwhile, Thailand has alleged that Cambodian forces fired artillery shells across the border, damaging two civilian houses in the Ban Khok Thahan area. The Thai Army described the shelling as a 'serious violation of sovereignty' and stated it was taking necessary precautions to protect its citizens. President Trump has urged both countries to honor their ceasefire commitments to bring the conflict to an end.
