Chinese Expert Team Conducts On-Site Investigations for Maldives' China-Assisted Hospital Project

A team of experts from the Chinese government is currently in the Maldives to conduct on-site investigations for the in-depth design of a new hospital in Vilimale’. The project, funded by the Chinese government, aims to establish a state-of-the-art medical facility to enhance healthcare services in the Maldives. The 11-member expert team, dispatched from December 18th to January 15th, carried out a site survey on Monday, accompanied by senior engineers from the Maldives Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, and the head of Vilimale Hospital and Male City Group of Hospitals (MCGH). A working group from China’s Ministry of Commerce was also present to provide guidance. The China–Maldives Friendship Hospital Project in Vilimale’ will feature a 112-bed hospital spread across a 6,000-square-meter site, with a total building area of 12,900 square meters. The facility will include outpatient and emergency departments, diagnostic and laboratory facilities, treatment and inpatient services, and administrative offices, equipped with comprehensive medical equipment and furnishings. The project’s design emphasizes 'Oceanic Symbiosis and Cultural Integration,' blending Maldivian and Chinese cultural elements with modern architectural aesthetics, ensuring harmony with the surrounding environment.
