Chinese Government Scholarship Applications Now Open for Maldivian Students

The Chinese Embassy in the Maldives has announced that applications are now open for the Chinese Government Scholarship for the 2027/2028 academic year. The scholarship offers Maldivian students the opportunity to study in China. According to an announcement from the embassy, further information and applications can be submitted through the designated website, specifically the "Chinese Government Scholarship Information System for International Students" tab. All required documents must be submitted online. For those applying to undergraduate programs, applicants must complete the Chinese Scholastic Competency Assessment and submit its results with their scholarship application. The embassy stated that students intending to begin studies in September next year must participate in the assessment scheduled for November, December, or January of the coming year. If the course of study is in Chinese, applicants must demonstrate language proficiency. However, students who have previously studied in Chinese or completed a Chinese-language module are exempt from this requirement. Online applications submitted by Maldivian students will be processed by the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives. The embassy has also released a document detailing all eligibility criteria and requirements alongside the announcement.
