Civil Court Blocks HDC from Halting Revelli Beach Club Operations in Hulhumale
Local News ·
The Civil Court has issued an interim order against the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), instructing it not to take any action that would halt the operation of the Revelli Beach Club and Restaurant located in Hulhumale.
The order, issued in the absence of HDC representatives, states that no action should be taken to stop the operation of the restaurant run by Solaris Hospitality Private Limited until the court delivers a judgment or until a specific decision is made regarding the matter. The court also directed HDC to reverse any action already taken to halt the restaurant's operations, if such action has been carried out so far.
The order was issued noting that since the matter pertains to a lease agreement, there is a significant possibility that Solaris Hospitality holds certain statutory rights or legal interests that require legal protection.
On the same day the court issued its order, HDC announced in a statement that its agreement with Solaris Hospitality regarding the land where Revelli Beach Restaurant operates has been terminated effective from that day due to prolonged non-payment of rent.
"Therefore, please be informed that no business transactions or services of any kind will be provided to Solaris Private Limited at Lot Number 10877 in Hulhumale, as we have decided to take back this land starting today," HDC said in its announcement.
HDC also stated that all necessary notices and reasonable opportunities were given in accordance with the terms of the agreement between the two parties prior to making the decision.
Revelli Beach Restaurant operates in Block Eight of the Hulhumale Ring Road and is the only restaurant licensed by HDC to operate in Hulhumale in such proximity to the seafront.
