Civil Court Halts HDC Eviction of Hulhumale' Revelli Beach Club and Restaurant Pending Case
Local News ·
The Civil Court has issued a temporary order suspending the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) from evicting the operators of the Revelli Beach Club and Restaurant in Hulhumale' after their lease was terminated. The order was made in response to a case filed by Solaris Hospitality Private Limited, which operates the restaurant, challenging HDC's decision to end the lease over unpaid rent and take control of the premises. The court stated that evicting the business before a final ruling could cause irreparable harm and directed HDC to restore the status quo. HDC had terminated the agreement, citing several months of unpaid rent, and had attempted to take possession of the land, temporarily disrupting services. Services have since resumed following the court order. Solaris owes HDC approximately five million Maldivian Rufiyaa in rental arrears.
