Civil Court Halts HDC's Takeover of Reveli Restaurant Land Over Unpaid Rent

Local News ·
The Civil Court has ordered a halt to efforts by HDC to take over the land of Reveli Beach Club and Restaurant in Hulhumale, following a dispute over unpaid rent. HDC had issued a notice on Friday stating that no business transactions or services could be conducted on Lot Number 10877, which was leased to Solaris Hospitality Private Limited to operate the restaurant. In response, Solaris Hospitality filed a case in the Civil Court claiming the eviction notice violated the terms of the agreement. The court issued an interim order stopping the takeover, noting that if the matter proceeds, both parties could influence the resolution of the monetary claim. According to sources, rent for the land has not been paid for many years, with the amount due, including fines, totaling approximately 7 million rufiyaa. The monthly rent is around MVR 141,000, and unpaid rent alone amounts to MVR 5.4 million, indicating rent has not been paid for over three years.
