Civil Court orders RDC to pay MVR 11.7 million to Indian company

The Civil Court has ordered the Road Development Corporation (RDC) to pay MVR 11.7 million in a lump sum to Indian company Lucky Global Projects.
The case was filed by Lucky Global Projects after RDC failed to pay money owed under agreements made between the two companies in 2023. The case states that the two companies entered into three settlement agreements this year regarding the payments, but RDC did not pay in accordance with those agreements, prompting Lucky Global to sue in the Civil Court.
During the litigation, RDC said it agreed to the amount owed to Lucky Global. However, RDC told the court that it had failed to pay as agreed because of the company’s weakened financial situation. RDC therefore asked the court to arrange easy terms allowing the money to be paid in monthly installments.
Lucky Global objected to the monthly installment proposal. The company asked the court to order that the money be paid in one lump sum without further hearings.
The Civil Court ruled yesterday in line with Lucky Global’s request, ordering RDC to pay MVR 11.7 million in one lump sum to Lucky Global within seven days starting from 12 October, by paying the money to the Civil Court.
