Club Brugge Stun Inter Milan 4-3 at San Siro as Tresoldi Hits Hat-Trick

Sports ·
Club Brugge defeated Inter Milan 4-3 in their UEFA Champions League league phase match at the San Siro, handing the Italian Serie A champions a home defeat. In a match that produced a surprising result, Club Brugge's Nikolo Tresoldi delivered a fine performance, scoring a hat-trick against Inter. Although both teams competed well, Inter had more possession of the ball and created more chances. Club Brugge took the lead from a penalty awarded in the 30th minute, which Tresoldi converted. Inter equalised with one minute remaining in the first half through their captain, Lautaro Martinez. It was his first goal of this Champions League campaign. Club Brugge took the lead for the second time in the 63rd minute when Tresoldi capitalised on a mistake by Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez to score. Eleven minutes later, Tresoldi scored again to complete his hat-trick. Inter's second goal of the match was also scored in the 81st minute by Martinez, the scorer of their first goal. With that goal the gap between the two teams was reduced to one goal, and Inter had hope of getting a result, but Club Brugge's Romeo Vermant scored their fourth goal in the 87th minute to dash that hope. Inter's last goal of the match was scored by Ange-Yoan Bonny from a penalty awarded in the third minute of added time. However, Inter were unable to score another goal and level the match. With this defeat, Inter have now lost both of the two Champions League matches they have played this season. Including last season, this is their fourth consecutive defeat in this league competition. Inter are currently 28th in the standings, with no points from two matches. With the other matches being played tonight in this competition, it is quite likely that Inter will slip even further down. With this major victory over Inter, Club Brugge are 18th in the standings with 3 points.
