Compensation promise fulfilled for Gan relocatees

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has confirmed that 169 individuals who were relocated to L. Gan from other islands will receive compensation of 50,000 Rufiyaa each. Speaking at a public gathering in L. Gan during his atoll tour, the President emphasized that providing such compensation to relocated individuals is established government policy, and he had committed to resolving this issue during his presidential campaign. "We have officially received the documentation at the ministry for the 169 individuals entitled to this payment," he stated. "That comes to approximately 8.45 million Rufiyaa at 50,000 Rufiyaa per person. The Finance Ministry has now arranged for these funds." The President added that a team from both the Finance and Housing Ministries will soon visit Gan to meet with recipients and provide further clarification.
