Consultation Meetings for ARISE Renewable Energy Project Begin in 13 Islands

Environment ·
The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy has commenced public consultation meetings under the 15 MW solar package of the Accelerating Renewable Energy Integration and Sustainable Energy (ARISE) project across 13 islands of the Maldives. The meetings aim to inform residents about the project's goals, the importance of solar energy, and its benefits, while also addressing public concerns and grievances. The initiative includes the installation of solar power systems, expansion and upgrade of island grid systems, and the establishment of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The most recent consultations were held in Sh. Funadhoo, L. Maabaidhoo, and Kunahandhoo. Participants included representatives from island councils and officials from utility service providers. Discussions focused on clarifying the project details and gathering support for making the Maldives a clean energy-dependent nation.
