Correctional Service and DNR Partner to Streamline Inmate and Family Data Verification

Politics ·
The Maldives Correctional Service and the Department of National Registration (DNR) have signed a strategic agreement to digitize and accelerate the verification of critical data required for prison administration. The agreement was formalized by Ahmed Aly, Deputy Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, and Hassan Zareer, the Commissioner of Prisons. The partnership aims to replace slower manual checks with a more integrated system, significantly enhancing the accuracy and speed of information retrieval. A primary focus of the agreement is the verification of family ties. By accessing DNR records, the Correctional Service can now efficiently confirm whether individuals requesting visitation rights are legitimate family members of inmates. This measure is expected to tighten security protocols while ensuring that inmates maintain essential familial connections. Beyond visitation, the agreement provides the Correctional Service with a streamlined pipeline to the most current and comprehensive personal data regarding inmates and detainees under its supervision. This ensures that official records are kept up-to-date, reducing administrative errors and bureaucratic delays. According to the DNR, the move is part of a broader effort to make government services more efficient through better data sharing. The Maldives Correctional Service noted that the ability to verify family and personal details more easily will improve the overall management of detainees and enhance the operational efficiency of the nation's correctional facilities.
