Haa Alif Atoll's Dhiddhu, the second most populous village after Malé, has seen the completion of a housing project comprising 75 two-story houses. According to Dhiddhu Council President Uthman Rashid, more than 1,100 people have applied for these homes, highlighting the village's urgent need for shelter. The Housing Ministry is currently inspecting the completed units, built by SJ Construction. Each 700-square-foot unit includes three rooms, three bathrooms, a sitting room, a kitchen, a laundry room, and a storage room. Work to identify eligible applicants is underway. The village previously addressed housing shortages by reclaiming land in 2008, constructing 250 houses that are still occupied. Further housing projects are planned on 112 hectares of reclaimed land.
