Diabetes and thyroid tests halted at Alif Alif Atoll Hospital for over two weeks
Health ·
More than two weeks have passed since the Alif Alif Atoll Hospital in Mahibadhoo stopped conducting diabetes and thyroid tests, with no known date for resumption, according to hospital officials. The interruption, blamed on a lack of necessary supplies, has raised concern among residents who rely on these tests for chronic illness management. An employee at the hospital’s laboratory confirmed that the tests have been suspended due to supply shortages and that some other previously available tests have also been discontinued. Residents from islands across Alif Alif Atoll who travel to Mahibadhoo for treatment have expressed frustration, stating that the decline in service standards under the current government has created significant challenges for patients.
