ECM Establishes National Complaints Bureau Ahead of April 2026 Elections

Politics ·
The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has established the National Complaints Bureau in preparation for the upcoming Local Council Elections and Women's Development Committee Elections set for April 2026. The bureau aims to streamline the process for submitting election-related complaints and ensure a faster resolution mechanism. Complaints can be submitted physically at the ECM counter desk or via email at complaints@elections.gov.mv. The form is available on the ECM website, at polling stations, and through designated focal points across the nation and overseas. The complaints counter will operate daily from 0900hrs to 1500hrs, except on Fridays when it will be open from 1500hrs to 1800hrs. The ECM emphasizes that complaints will be accepted throughout voting day on April 4 until provisional results are announced. The commission sets up a complaints bureau before each election. The voters' list and request for submissions of complaints were announced prior to the bureau's establishment.
