Education Minister Stresses Need for Systemic Change at 'Mashwara' Policy Dialogue
Education ·
Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu has emphasised that conferences in the education sector should focus on bringing about systemic changes rather than being limited to specific topics. He made the remarks while speaking at the launch of the 'Mashwara' Policy Dialogue, held at the Maldives National University in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and UNICEF to mark Teachers' Day.
Dr. Shafeeu stated that the government’s vision of making the Maldives a developed nation by 2040 can only be achieved through joint efforts in the education sector, noting that human resource development plays a crucial role in national progress. He stressed the importance of policy-level discussions involving teachers, principals, students, and policymakers.
The Minister called on all teachers to take pride in their profession and to build a generation of successful students. He added that maintaining respect for teachers is a collective responsibility that extends beyond schools, requiring cooperation from parents and schools alike.
The 'Mashwara' Policy Dialogue is expected to bring together a large number of teachers, students, principals, lecturers, and relevant government officials to discuss ways to advance the education sector.
