Ekta Kapoor Announces 'The Dirty Picture 2', Sequel to 2011 Film

Producer Ekta Kapoor has announced that she has decided to produce 'The Dirty Picture 2', the sequel to the 2011 film 'The Dirty Picture'. Speaking on a podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia, Kapoor said the decision to make a second part 15 years after the first film was driven by an important story she wants to tell. "There is a story I want to tell," she said, noting that it is a very big project. The first film was based on the life of Silk Smitha, with Vidya Balan in the lead role. Vidya Balan also received a National Award for her performance in the film. Discussing the first film, Kapoor said Silk Smitha was someone who had to face society's criticism, but she was a person who lived with personal freedom. She said the second film will also show the story of a person who lived with such freedom. However, she did not reveal whose story it is. Although Kapoor officially announced that the film is being made, no details have been revealed yet, including the stars who will appear in the lead roles, who will direct the film, or the release date.
