Employment Tribunal Rules No Discrimination in Dismissal of Former Tourism Ministry PS
Local News ·
The Employment Tribunal has concluded that there was no discrimination in the dismissal of Fatima Shaufa from her position as Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Tourism. Shaufa had filed a complaint against the Civil Service Commission (CSC), alleging that her dismissal and the subsequent appointment of another person to the post were discriminatory. The Tribunal, in a decision issued on Friday, found that Shaufa's claims of discrimination based on political grounds and place of origin were unsubstantiated. The CSC had argued that the dismissal was carried out under its legal powers during the probation period, and the Tribunal noted that no credible evidence was presented to support the allegations of unfair treatment. Consequently, the Tribunal dismissed Shaufa's request for payment of salary and benefits until 2030 and 35,000 rufiyaa in legal costs.
