An engine failure on a launch travelling from Dhuvaafaru to Kandholhudhoo in Raa Atoll led to a passenger falling ill and being taken to the Dhuvaafaru Health Centre, police said on Friday. The launch, named 'Yaalu Speed', became disabled at sea with three people on board. The Dhuvaafaru Police Station responded and towed the vessel back to the Dhuvaafaru lagoon after receiving a report at around 4:56 pm. The engine was also repaired with police assistance. The passenger who fell ill is a Bangladeshi national, and his condition is now stable. The cause of his illness has not yet been confirmed.
