Everyone Meeting Conditions Will Get Housing Plot in Rasfalu, President Muizzu Assures

Politics ·
President Mohamed Muizzu has announced that every applicant who meets the conditions under the Rasfalu housing project will receive a plot of land. Speaking on PSM's "Nation Chat" program, Muizzu said he personally verified the application numbers and confirmed there is enough space in Rasfalu to accommodate all eligible applicants from the categories determined by the government. The President stated that plots will be given to Malé citizens, those on the register, and people who have lived in Malé for thirty years. "Everyone from all these categories who applies and meets the conditions will get a plot. Who will be left out?" Muizzu questioned. Addressing concerns that public housing opportunities would be lost if 500 hectares of Rasfalu land were given to Eagle Hills, Muizzu denied this and added that 5,000 flats the company is building in Hulhumalé will also be available to citizens during his term. He said work on these housing units, including basic services on Athurayan Island, can be completed by August 2028. These flats will be reserved for young people, resort employees, fishermen, and other workers who have not yet received housing. The President emphasized that the Constitution and laws of the Maldives will prevail in Rasfalu, and that the Maldivian police and state will have full military and law enforcement authority. He confirmed that raves and casinos will be banned in Rasfalu, mosques with five-time call-to-prayer bells will exist, and arrangements for eating and drinking during Ramadan will be implemented as in other inhabited islands. Over 22,500 forms have been submitted for plots under the housing scheme. The Ministry of Housing has stated the list of recipients will be made public next December.
