FAM Denies Misuse of Funds Amid Corruption Allegations: Bassam Accused

Opinion ·
The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has denied allegations of misusing funds after claims surfaced that dollars exchanged for rufiyaa were not deposited into FAM's accounts. The issue arose following a $1 million check issued for a construction project, with FAM claiming the funds were exchanged for rufiyaa but not accounted for. FAM's General Secretary Hussein Javaz addressed the allegations, stating that the funds were not misused. However, former FAM President Bassam Adeel Jaleel has raised questions about the transparency of the transactions. The Prosecutor General's Office has been notified, and a criminal case has been initiated to investigate the matter. Bassam, along with other officials, has been summoned to clarify the financial discrepancies.
