FDC Orders Occupants of Two Hulhumale Flats to Vacate Over Unpaid Rent

Local News ·
Fahi Dhiveen Corporation (FDC) has cancelled agreements for two units in towers it developed in Hulhumale and issued notices requiring the occupants to vacate, the corporation said. FDC said the decision followed the procedures in the rent and ownership agreement signed before the handover of the 4,000 housing units. It said the parties were given 135 days and repeated opportunities to pay outstanding amounts before the agreement was cancelled. During that period, FDC sent two payment-default notices and the required 30-day notice before terminating the agreement, the corporation said. It added that the notices were delivered through the Fahi Portal, SMS, email and in writing. FDC said that after the deadline expired and payment had still not been made, it instructed the parties to vacate and hand over the units within 15 days of receiving the notice. Access to the parties' FDC portal accounts has also been disabled in connection with the cancellation. FDC said the measures were taken to uphold the rules of the agreement and enforce them equally and fairly for all parties. It appealed to all residents of Aman Towers to pay rent and maintenance fees regularly each month under the agreement so the buildings can be maintained sustainably and service standards upheld. According to FDC statistics published on the 2nd of this month, 3,362 units are paying rent regularly each month, while 564 units are not paying rent regularly. FDC said it is reviewing cases filed by residents of the 4,000 housing units developed under FDC in Hulhumale Phase 2. Up to the 21st of last month, 49 cases related to those flats had been submitted and were being reviewed.
