Fenaka Deploys 45 New Generators to Combat Atoll Power Shortages

Fenaka Corporation Limited has delivered new generator sets to 21 islands this year as part of a strategic effort to eliminate chronic electricity shortages across the Maldives' scattered atolls. An additional 24 units are currently arriving in the capital and are scheduled for distribution to remaining islands in the coming weeks. Once these shipments are complete, Fenaka will have deployed a total of 45 generators in 2026. This represents the most aggressive single-year injection of power equipment in the company’s history, aimed at providing a reliable, round-the-clock electricity supply for residential and commercial users. For years, residents in the outer atolls have struggled with unstable voltage and frequent power outages. These infrastructure gaps have hindered local development and prompted various government expansion projects. While previous efforts have improved connectivity, intermittent supply remains a critical concern for many island communities. The new equipment is specifically designed to stabilize the grid and reduce the frequency of blackouts. By increasing generation capacity, Fenaka aims to resolve long-standing complaints regarding energy security and ensure that essential services can operate without interruption. Fenaka has reaffirmed its commitment to building a more resilient and trustworthy electricity network, ensuring that all Maldivians, regardless of their geographical location, have access to consistent power.
