Fenaka Restores Power Access for New Residential Areas Across Four Islands
World ·
Fenaka Corporation has successfully extended electricity services to newly inhabited residential areas on four islands, addressing a critical gap in utility provision for residents in reclaimed and newly allocated lands. The initiative aims to eliminate the delays that have historically plagued citizens moving into newly developed housing sectors.
The project has now brought power to Fonadhoo in Laamu Atoll, Nolhivaranfaru in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, and both Buruni and Thimarafushi in Thaa Atoll. These developments mark a significant step in the state utility provider's effort to ensure essential services keep pace with national urban expansion.
In Fonadhoo, Fenaka completed all necessary infrastructure by the end of June, establishing power access for 80 housing plots. Similarly, 48 housing plots in Buruni have now been connected to the grid. The corporation also finalized network extension works over the past year for 100 housing units across Nolhivaranfaru and Thimarafushi. This specific phase included the installation of 12 distribution boxes and the laying of 825 meters of low-voltage cable in Nolhivaranfaru to stabilize the local grid.
Beyond these four islands, Fenaka reported that a substantial portion of the electrification work for newly populated areas in R. Maakurathu and Vaadhoo is already complete. The corporation is currently expediting the remaining tasks to transition these residents to permanent electricity services.
By prioritizing these network expansions, Fenaka aims to reduce the hardship faced by families relocating to new residential zones. The corporation stated that its primary objective is to ensure that essential services are delivered rapidly and efficiently, preventing the utility bottlenecks that often follow land reclamation and housing allocation projects in the archipelago.
