First Lady Hails Employment Milestone for People with Special Needs

Politics ·
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has declared that the Maldives is firmly on course to build an inclusive society, speaking at a ceremony celebrating employment opportunities for people with special needs on Tuesday. The event marked a significant achievement as the state-owned Housing Development Corporation (HDC) provided roles to 30 individuals with special needs. The First Lady emphasized that this initiative grants them the long-awaited opportunity to earn income through their own efforts, representing a major step forward in workforce integration. She credited this progress to the current administration's inclusive policies, noting that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has placed special priority on ensuring people with special needs are fully integrated into the workforce. This commitment, she believes, will bring substantial positive changes to their lives and contribute to a more equitable society. Recognizing the diverse skills and educational qualifications of the new recruits, the First Lady concluded by urging HDC staff and management to actively provide encouragement and support to their newly onboarded colleagues, fostering an inclusive work environment where everyone can thrive.
