First Lady Praises Guide Movement for Shaping Youth Character and Social Responsibility

First Lady and Chief Guide Sajidha Mohamed has emphasized the pivotal role of the Guide movement in shaping the personal and social development of young Maldivians, asserting that the program prepares youth to make meaningful contributions to their communities. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 25th National Patrol Leaders Training Camp in Vilimalé, the First Lady congratulated students from across the archipelago who completed the intensive program. She noted that the camp provided participants with essential skills and valuable experiences that extend beyond traditional classroom learning. With the Guide movement approaching 75 years of operation in the Maldives, First Lady Sajidha highlighted the longevity of the program as a testament to the national priority placed on character education. She explained that the movement focuses on a holistic approach to development, prioritizing physical health, mental enthusiasm, and the integration of national and religious values into the lives of young women. Beyond individual growth, the First Lady underscored the movement's impact on social character. She stated that the training fosters a spirit of humanity and encourages young people to think critically about societal issues, urging them to prioritize the interests of the community over the individual. "The result is that today's children will, God willing, become tomorrow's young people who take responsibility for these matters and develop into individuals respected by others at island and atoll levels," First Lady Sajidha remarked. She further noted that the progression from local leadership at the island and atoll levels allows these young women to eventually exert a positive influence on a national scale. The First Lady also reminded participants of the importance of maintaining religious discipline and mindfulness as a core part of their personal development. Concluding her address, the First Lady described the Guides as dedicated national servants, praising their commitment to providing strong, selfless service to the Maldivian community.
