First Lady Urges Maldivians to Embrace Quranic Values for National Strength

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has called on all Maldivians to cultivate a deep love and respect for the Holy Quran, emphasizing its role as the spiritual foundation of the nation. Speaking at a ceremony to announce the results of a Quran recitation and ‘Madhaha’ competition, the First Lady highlighted that because the Maldives is a 100 percent Islamic nation, the principles of the Quran should reside at the core of every citizen's heart. She described the Holy Quran as a vital source of enlightenment for the entire society. The event was organized by the Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO). During her address, the First Lady commended WAMCO's management for their commitment to the spiritual development of their staff. She noted that the company's efforts to nurture employees—who perform a critical national service—into individuals grounded in Islamic etiquette and spiritual strength are highly commendable. First Lady Sajidha specifically praised the introduction of Quranic classes for WAMCO employees, noting that such initiatives are essential for personal and professional growth rooted in faith. Adding to the commitment, WAMCO Managing Director Mujuthaba Jaleel announced that the corporation is currently developing a dedicated space for Quranic studies. He stated that the facility is expected to be completed by the end of the year, providing a permanent environment for employees to benefit from religious education. The competitions saw significant engagement from the workforce. A total of 57 employees participated in the Quran recitation contest, including 10 staff members from the atolls who joined the competition virtually. Additionally, 46 participants entered the ‘Madhaha’ competition, with group performances submitted from five different company departments.
