Fivah Council Voices Concerns Over Slow Progress of New Police Station Construction

Local News ·
The Council of Fivah, Thaa Atoll, has expressed concern over the extremely slow pace of construction of a new police station on the island, despite providing a large plot of land for the project. Ali Riza, Deputy Mayor of the Fivah Council, stated that the contract for the project was signed on 14 October 2025 and practical work began, but after one year, only boundary stones have been placed. Initially, the Council handed over a 10,000-square-foot plot, which was later expanded to 16,500 square feet after requests that the original plot was too small. Riza noted that the work, being carried out by a private company, employs approximately 10 foreign workers at the site, and warned that if the work continues at its current speed, he does not expect the project to be completed quickly.
