Fonaadhoo DMG Crowned Champions as Ooredoo Nation Atoll Esports League Concludes

The Ooredoo Nation Atoll Esports Tournament, which brought together the best PUBG Mobile teams from across the Maldives, has concluded.
A special ceremony was held last night at the Ooredoo Head Office to present awards to the placing teams.
The champion team, L. Fonaadhoo DMG, was awarded at last night's ceremony, along with first runner-up Sh. Commando UK NG and second runner-up K. Kaashidoo MGSC. Based on the outstanding gameplay shown throughout the tournament, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title was awarded to SDMZEDFLANKI.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ooredoo's Chief Sales Officer Hussain Niaaz said this year's Atoll Esports League had received a greater response than last year's, noting that almost every island in the Maldives took part in this edition.
Niaaz said the tournament was conducted online, as part of efforts to digitalise the Maldives and alongside the services the company provides, in a way that allowed participants to compete while remaining on their own islands. He said the aim was to create opportunities for skilled gamers from the islands and to develop gamers who can compete in international tournaments.
"When Ooredoo Nation was launched four years ago, our aim was to take the esports field of the Maldives to the international level. We are working to bring gamers who play various games, such as PUBG, to the international level," Niaaz said.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the President of the Maldives Esports Association, Ismail Azmee Adnan, said that if gamers have the opportunity to take part in tournaments of this kind and develop their skills, gamers who can achieve world-level rankings can be developed.
The Ooredoo Nation Atoll Esports League was launched last year. Following the great response received by last year's tournament, the second edition of the league was held last month.
In this year's tournament, 48 teams representing various islands of the Maldives competed across six groups, with 75 matches played. Teams competed while remaining on their own islands, and the tournament was live-streamed through YouTube.
Ooredoo Nation holds various tournaments of this kind for gamers living in different parts of the Maldives.
