The Privatization and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has appointed three individuals to the boards of state-owned enterprises, including former Deputy Mayor of Malé Mohamed Areesh.
According to the PCB's official X (formerly Twitter) account, Areesh has been appointed to the board of Maldives Post Limited. He was previously serving as an Under Secretary at the President's Office, a position he was appointed to in August.
Alongside Areesh, the PCB announced that Ismaeel Faruhadh Ahmed has been appointed to the board of the state-owned pharmaceutical company Statefarma, and Ahmed Imdhaadh Mohammed has been appointed to the board of the State Trading Organisation (STO).
Areesh was elected as Deputy Mayor of Malé on March 16 last year on a Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) ticket. However, after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was elected, Areesh signed with the People's National Congress (PNC). He contested the local council election last April for a second term but lost to incumbent councillor Mohamed Ridhwan Ali, receiving 675 votes against Ridhwan's 1,040 votes.
